Abstract

The role of symplectic area quantization in the dynamics of charged particles in electromagnetic fields is investigated. The connection between symplectic geometry and quantum mechanics is explored through the study of magnetic translations and the Landau problem. Explicit formulas for quantum phases in terms of classical symplectic areas are derived.
